Weight Management
If you are reading this page, you already know that it is far too simplistic to say that you will lose weight if only you “eat less, move more”. Almost 63% of adults in England are overweight or obese, and the so called “obesity epidemic” is all too real. You are no doubt aware of the health problems, both mental and physical, associated with being overweight.
Unfortunately, there is still a stigma about being overweight; the media shows wholly unrealistic body images as being “normal” and “attractive”, and Society is prejudicial to overweight people in so many ways. The suggestion that overweight people are simply weak-willed is unfair, and in fact, the opposite is more often true.
I can't stick to a diet…
There are an overwhelming number of diet options available now. Some are good, based on sound healthy eating principles, but some are simply fads which are unpleasant and not realistic for long term weight management. If you have tried to lose weight before, I need not tell you how difficult it is to stick to a diet, or to avoid the temptation to revert to old, unhealthy eating habits after the diet ends. You may lose weight in the short term, but it goes back on again afterwards, (perhaps even more so than before).
Any cycle of loss and gain, loss and gain, can be exhausting and destructive, both mentally and physically. It creates negative emotions, feelings of guilt, failure and worthlessness, which makes things even worse. When you have tried so hard before to lose weight, you might start believing that successful long term weight management is impossible for you. Let me assure you, that isn't the case!

If you are already following an eating plan, whether prescribed by your doctor, at a weight loss group, or by any other means, that is fine. I will also not provide nutritional advice, but I will be able to refer you to a nutritionist should you wish.
